Running The London Marathon 2011

Sponsor Us

Last year for charity, I ran 40 miles before I was 40 (read more) and although incredibly hard at times, it was an amazing and rewarding experience. I did say never again... but when you get the chance to make a difference for a worthy charity, then why not!

This year my inspiration is my Dad. In 2010, whilst training for last years marathon my Dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Although the cancer was aggressive, it was thankfully caught just in time and he is doing well. Too many men are not so lucky.

So, along with my three brothers Matthew, Gareth & Jason and brother-in-law Scott we have decided to together run the London Marathon to raise money and promote awareness of male cancer. Our target, WE HAVE TO RAISE is a staggering £10,000!

We will also be running in memory of Scott's lovely Dad, Don who sadly lost his life to Cancer in April last year.

Did you know ... 37,000 men will be diagnosed with a male-specific cancer in 2011; from sons to grandfathers, men face the risk of prostate, penile or testicular cancer.

"These statistics are shocking and almost as high as breast cancer in women! Early diagnosis and awareness is key to increasing survival rates. It has been done with female cancers, and now, it's time to do it for the men! . So for all those Dad's out there, please, please support our challenge."

Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles.  Alex Karras
