Alzheimers Society leading the fight against dementia
Alzheimer's Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in the UK.
The term 'dementia' is used to describe the symptoms that occur when the brain is affected by specific diseases and conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, stroke and many other rarer conditions. Symptoms of dementia include loss of memory, confusion and problems with speech and understanding.
In over 250 locations across the UK, Alzheimer's Society staff and volunteers work together to provide help and information to people affected by dementia in their communities. This includes day care and home care for people with dementia, as well as support and befriending services to help partners and families. The Society also provides reliable and up to date information to help with every
aspect of living with dementia.
Every year the Alheimer's Society invests around £1.5 million into vital research into finding a cure and helping improve the quality of life for people with dementia.
The Society demands a better future for everyone affected by all forms of dementia and we continually campaign for the rights of people with dementia and those who care for them.
